Windows influenced by a French Bishop in rebuilding the cathedral for a land with Spanish and Mexican culture for many years. Each window had a painted picture below it from the Mexican culture.

It is also on the cover of a book I saw at Abiquiu the day before. That book cover had Adam’s image alongside a painting from essentially the same vantage point by Georgia O’Keeffe. After a few of my own images for the back of the church, we went around to the plaza, where I shot other images of the church and a few buildings around the plaza. Madrid is the next town south from Los Cerrillos. It has a lot of tourist shops. It seems to be a destination for the motorcycle crowd.

This morning Christie and I bought a picnic lunch and headed for Clingmans Dome. The music was an album by Amy Grant, starting with the song "This is My Father's World." Unlike most of the plazas we visited, Plaza Degetau's church was more or less in the center. The Ponce Cathedral has opulent architecture. It, and the plaza around it, are testimony to the wealth once present around Ponce.

There were several statues and monuments around Plaza Degetau. Most seemed to be related to the history of the city and its region.

This one was shot from the street through an enternce for a courtyard cafe, surrounded by shops. Above the shops was a hotel, which appeared to be impressive, built in 1920.
This was an interesting covered ally, where there must have been twenty little shops opening onto the walkway. The entier time we were shooting, people were coming and going. On one end there was a small cafe, with several people drinking coffee and visiting on this Friday morning.
Of course, we had to spend a little time at the marina and boardwalk for Playa Ponce. Lunch was a good reason to go there.

When we came across Cementerio Masonico in Sabana Grande, we drove into a neighborhood to turn around. What the heck - might as well explore where these people live. This is a house that got my attention on a hill in the neighborhood.

Independence Day Outting with Christie
Today, I walked from our home to Anchor Park by way of the walking trail behind Kroger. The pedometer counted about 9,000 steps, including a little walking around the house before I left. Christie's car and Google Maps indicated closer to 4 miles. Whatever the distance, it was a good walk. Things look much different when walking than driving.
